Rig Mechanic

About the Role

Condor Energy Services is a growing and exciting business operating in the resource sector, with multiple locations across Australia and New Zealand. An exciting opportunity awaits, as Condor Energy's Integrated Solutions Team welcomes the exciting arrival of their new Epiroc Predator Rig. We are currently searching for a Rig Mechanic to join the team!

The Rig Mechanic is a crucial member of the drilling crew responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the optimal functionality of drilling equipment and rig components. This role plays a vital part in enhancing the safety, efficiency, and reliability of drilling operations.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance on but not limited to drilling equipment, including Rig, mud pumps, engines, and associated machinery.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with drilling equipment, with ability to read hydraulic drawings.

  • Execute repairs promptly to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.

  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in drilling equipment.

  • Replace worn or faulty components, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.

  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed for equipment repairs or modifications.

  • Respond promptly to emergency situations requiring immediate mechanical attention.

  • Collaborate with other crew members to address critical equipment failures.

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, recommended spares list and replacement of components.

  • Report to the Rig Manager regarding the status of equipment and any outstanding issues and participate in cost control.

  • Assist in rig up and pre spud equipment checks.

Maintain and update the company’s maintenance system.

  • Update and maintain all mechanical inspections as per company and regulatory requirements.


Experience & Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Rig Mechanic or in a similar mechanical role within the drilling industry.

  • Practical experience in maintaining and repairing drilling equipment.

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Certificate III in Heavy Road Transport or; Certificate III in Diesel Fitting

  • First Aid

  • Perform CPR 

  • Low Voltage Rescue and CPR

  • Confined Space Entry with BA

  • Fire Extinguisher 

  • Gas Test Atmospheres

  • Working at Height

  • 4WD Skill Set 

  • Wellsite Permit to Work Holder 

  • Confined Space Rescue 

  • Working Safely at Heights Rescue 

  • ISI Declaration

  • Operate a Front End Loader

  • Operate Telehandler 

  • Apply Fatigue Management Strategies

  • Administer a Fatigue Management System

  • Apply Chain of Responsibility

  • Load and Unload Goods/Cargo

  • Weed & Seed
